I used to think homeschoolers were weird. 🙋🏻‍♀️ So I used to think homeschoolers were weird. 🙋🏻‍♀️ So naturally I decided to home educate my children. 🤩 Best decision ever. 10/10, highly recommend.

Switching to natural fibers has never felt better! Switching to natural fibers has never felt better! I adore Fair Indigo’s organic cotton staples and these 100% organic leggings are no exception.

I’m wearing size small with a 26” inseam (because I am vertically challenged at 5’4”). Taller folks also have a pockets option (which I love as well and had mine hemmed).

So soft, comfy, and sturdy. Can’t recommend highly enough! Unless you just love skin tight, toxic, synthetic leggings. 😉

Perfect for lounging, sleeping, and winter layering. 😍

Use code ROOTS10 to save 10% on your first order. (And stock up on my fav scoop neck tees and tanks while you’re at it!)

As a family with three boys, we have decided again As a family with three boys, we have decided against sports. Not because sports are bad, but because in our culture, they take up too much time and draw too much attention away from things that matter more.

There are many pursuits that we value more than playing or watching sports, such as bonding together as a family, cultivating sibling friendships, mastering skills, reading good books, exploring outdoors, growing food, preparing meals from scratch, building enterprises, traveling, creating music, and more.

If you love sports and don’t see a problem with it, cool. These words aren’t for you. But if you have boys (or girls!) and are feeling a pull away from the hamster wheel of organized or professional sports, can I encourage you to embrace a different way?

You are allowed to opt out of sports involvement. It is possible to raise amazing kids without sports. Your boys don’t need sports in order to have purpose, pursuit, challenge, or conquest. You can, and should, give them those things in real life.

Disclaimer: we are actually hosting a Super Bowl “watching” party, but I don’t even know (or care) who is playing. I plan to make yummy food, enjoy time with friends, and use it as an opportunity for connection. I probably won’t even watch the game! And afterwards, we’ll go right back to our regular life that is completely unaffected by who wins or loses a game.

Some people can’t wait for their kids to get out o Some people can’t wait for their kids to get out of the house; we can’t wait for ours to grow up, get married, start a family business, and live all together on a family compound. Not necessarily in that order! 😉

In all seriousness, many of our current conversations revolve around expanding our family business(es), the possibility of living together long-term, and other exciting plans unfolding as we speak. Could be an eventful year for us!

Their pallet fort giving 90s…I’ve loved watching i Their pallet fort giving 90s…I’ve loved watching it evolve over the years as all three boys leave their mark. Haddon has been making improvements and wanted to show me a few new features. I didn’t capture it on video, but I did indeed walk the beam, without falling. Must be my 90s heritage. 😆

And hauling those cement blocks definitely counted as my workout for the day, whew! We are determined to tame the jungle of wiregrass that invaded our veggie garden while we lived away from the farm during major renovations.

Don’t worry, we’re not spraying dangerous herbicides, just a concentrated form of cinnamon oil that we hope will knock back the grass enough for the next steps to work: cardboard, compost, and cover crop seed. 🙏🏻🌱
