Nigerian Dwarf Goats

Nigerian Dwarf Goats: Available July 2025

Nigerian Dwarf goats make excellent dairy goats, lawn mowers, and pets.  Their size (avg. 75 pounds and 17-23 inches in height) makes them ideal for small-scale dairy production and their milk is sweet and exceptionally high in butterfat and protein.

Nigerian Dwarf goats are gregarious and friendly, with a propensity to explore (that does require appropriate fencing).  Hardy to most climates, a Nigerian Dwarf goat can live for up to 15-20 years if well cared for.

We have young Nigerian Dwarf goats for sale every summer.  They are ready for new homes at 2-3 months of age.

If you plan to breed or milk your goats, we recommend waiting until the does are at least one year old to allow them to develop fully.  Also keep in mind that goats are herd animals and do best in groups of at least two.  More is even better.

On our homestead, our youngest son Haddon is responsible for the goats.  He started at the age of 6, taking them to pasture each morning and back to the barn at night.  Haddon helps his dad with daily milking and completes the daily tasks of straining, chilling, and labeling the milk.  This was one of our main reasons for choosing a small, gentle goat breed: we wanted child-friendly goats!
